Absinthe

Absinthe is a highly alcoholic, anise-flavored spirit that originated in the late 18th century in the Canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It was popular in France, especially among artists and writers, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, due to its high alcohol content and reputation for causing hallucinations, absinthe was banned in many countries, including France, at the beginning of the 20th century. In recent years, absinthe has experienced a resurgence in popularity and is now widely available in many countries.
The traditional way to serve absinthe is to dilute it with water and sugar, then drink it as an aperitif.
