Sake in memory of Toshiro Kuroda

The French Grammy Award-winning band Phoenix has launched a special project together with Tatenokawa, Inc.: not a new record, but a new sake.

This creation is dedicated to Toshiro Kuroda, who passed away on February 4th, 2017 due to cancer. A true sake expert, he devoted his life to spreading sake culture in France, becoming a figure of reference and inspiration for many, including Christian Mazzalai of Phoenix, who remembers him as “a great master who taught us the beauty of life, including sake, and who keeps inspiring us every day.”

The collaboration between Tatenokawa and Phoenix was born out of deep respect and gratitude for Kuroda and his tireless efforts to promote sake in Europe. A portion of the sales from this sake is donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to support medical research and the advancement of technology in the fight against cancer.

On the nose, it shows elegant aromas of melon and pear. On the palate, the body is medium, with a clean, persistent finish. Smooth, round, silky, and well-balanced, this sake is a fine example of the qualities found in the premium category.

This sake has also received international recognition: Second Grand Prix at the U.S. National Sake Appraisal 2018.
