The art of bourbon making began as early as 1812 on the grounds of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a nationally recognized historic landmark. When you visit, you can feel the deep historical legacy. The history of bourbon is closely intertwined with the history of Kentucky and, by extension, the United States.
The water used to produce Woodford Reserve is sourced directly at the distillery. It undergoes natural filtration through the limestone deposits on the property. This iron-free and mineral-rich water is a decisive factor in the production process, contributing significantly to the quality and uniqueness of the bourbon.
This bourbon is first matured in new, charred oak barrels, where it develops its basic characteristics. It then undergoes an additional finish in heavily toasted and charred barrels, which gives the whiskey an additional depth of flavor. This double maturation process gives Woodford Reserve Double Oaked its characteristic depth and complex flavor nuances.
