Fattoria di Sammontana

The Sammontana Farm with the adjacent Romanesque church from the twelfth century AD. it was once owned by the Medici family, then princes of Florence, who donated it to the canons of San Lorenzo, placing this place under the direct protection of the Medici family. The canons chose it as a place of rest and retreat, but they also built large underground cellars and, nearby, built a majestic kiln with overlapping arches, used for the production of pottery and various terracotta materials.

In 1870 the main building, with the adjoining church, the furnace, and the entire farm, was purchased by Michele Dzieduszycki, who from Poland loved to spend long periods of holiday in Italy.

His son Maurizio, specialized in Renaissance art and literature, married an Italian and came to reside permanently in Tuscany. However, it was thanks to his son, Massimo, that the farm developed, increasingly oriented towards specific quality wine and oil production.

Today, the family, now in its fourth generation, manages the company with organic and biodynamic criteria, with the aim of fully preserving the traditions and winemaking secrets of this land.
The earth
"This soil, which is normally defined as "ungrateful", is what gives character and personality to our wines."
The vineyards and olive groves slope gently along the hill that limits the Arno valley to the east, in the municipality of Montelupo Fiorentino, just over 20 km away from Florence.
It consists of approximately 15 hectares of vineyards and over 3,000 olive trees, located at an altitude between 70 and 150 meters above sea level.
