Originally with the word elixir, it was used to distinguish the compounds prepared by apothecaries and alchemists for purely curative purposes. The most famous of these, known as the "Lungavita", was for many centuries the only known remedy against all evil. With the advent of the chemical pharmacy, the elixirs lost their original role, passing from the shelves of pharmacies to those of the liquorist shops. Appropriately reinterpreted and sweetened, they quickly spread as a delight for the palate.
Delicately bitter liqueur which, like our grandmothers' candies, is the result of the combination of the pleasant bitter component of rhubarb and the frank freshness of mint.
Herbs and Spices: Pink split rhubarb roots, peppermint.
