The history of the winery began with Giovanni Fratus, at the end of the 1960s he founded Riccafana and began a long process of recovering the vineyards and the 15th century farmhouse which was in ruins at the time.
The "Riccafana" winery in Franciacorta, owned by the Fratus family, is located on the southern slopes of Monte Orfano, a unique environment from which mineral, savory products with a marked sensitivity, organic cultivation, respect for the land and quality wines are born.
The winemaking approach has always been aimed at respecting the characteristics of the grapes with a progressive containment of chemical interventions both in the field and in the cellar.
For Riccafana, the commitment to respecting the natural and biological complexity of wines is a priority.
Since 2006 Riccardo Fratus has decided to take a far-sighted path. Increasing attention has been paid to caring for and respecting the territory. The producer's will was clear right from the start:
